Ho will be out of service for several weeks. Death of Mary Pattcrton. Mrs. Mary Patterson, ono of North Platto's oldest residents, both in point of years and in continupus residence, died at tho homo of hor Bon, T. C. Patterson, nt half past ten o'clock Sun day night. Tho deceased had been ill but a few davs. hnvin? contracted n cold Wednesday, which owing to her advanced age, sho could not throw off. Saturday morning sho becamo uncon scious nnd remained in that condition until tho final summons came. Up to the timo of her illness sho had good heaUh nnd was quito active for ono of her years. Tho deceased was born in Ireland April 4, 1818, nnd had therefore pasted her ninetieth year. Sho was married in Ireland and enmo to this country with 'her husband in 185-1, locating nt Patterson, N. J. Later they rfsided in Joliet and Chicago, and in 18C7 Mr. Patterson came to North Platte to work for tho Union Pacific, where two years later ho was joined by Mrs. Patterson, who had remained in Chi cago becauso there wore no nvailablo housos nt that timo in North Platte. Ono thousand one hundred and ten cars of perishablo freight wore iced in transit during tho month rcauirinc over two million pounds of ice. The numbor of cars loaded and shipped from this station durincr tho month was 101, of which eighty cars wero hay, six of hogs, two of sand, twelve of company material and ono of emigrant movables.
