UP AND SOWN THE PIKE. It is said that 10. R. BrcUeh, station agent at Sidney will be transferred to Ivaramia and will be succeeded by Agent Clifton, now at Lodge Pole. Dr. Yarletz and Adolph ISnglcrt ot Lodge Pole were arrested last week on the charge of illegally sell ing liquor and bound over to the district court. Abe Brown and Chas. Worthing, two restaurant keepers at Overton have been bound over to the (lis trict court on the charge of selling beer without a license, Dave Harding, a salesman for an Omaha liquor house, was fined one hundred dollars and costs at Lex ington for selling liquor to G. W. Miller and Mrs. Gesauer of that town. Henry Fickenscher, who was badly burned iu a prairie lire Bet by a Union Pacific engine in April 1900, was given a verdict of $2,000 in the Dawson district court last week. Fickenscher lives along the railroad between Brady and Vro man. Cards received iu town this week announced the marriage of Miss Frances Clayton to Robert R Woodward, the ceremony occurring at San Francisco June fourteenth Miss Clayton will be remembered as a former teacher in the Ucity schools. We understand Mr, Woodward is employed in a rail road office at 'Frisco. BETWEEN THE RIVERS. 10. F, Seeberger and daughter Louise returned from North Platte Sunday evening. Edith and Jean Ellison who had been visiting Nichols friends have returned to North Platte. The harvesting of the small grain crop iujlhis section will be no Knall task. While the acreage is not so large as in some prevtous years, the growth is enough heavier to make up for the shortage in acreage. A number of cows were recently placed on the Scharmaun farm and we understand they will be milked for the Nichols creamery. Mr. and Mrs. N. Corn will average nearly knee high at the present time, the warm weather of the pant few days push ing it along very rapidly.
