Neville fdiall not be allowed to associate with his old friend 'Champ Clark and the Colonel is from 'Misnoury." At last the Omaha World-IIer-nld has sprung a salacioiiB hchsi tion upon the juvenile editor of the Bje and the infant prodigy Ih real izing that all his troubles will not be little ones. It was a fichly Cooked up mess. Without prejudice we would wish to remark that it is good bus iness policy when one's outlay is increasing, to endeavor to increase his income; hence if " a corporation or an individual's expenditures are increased by litigation they must be recouped by increasing' the price of its product. Tin: Omaha Bee is, as usual, en deavoring to build up the republi can party in Douglas county by at tacking its members. Either Rnscy wants to bcII his paper, or by his courHe is encouraging the estab- lisliiug ol a reliable republican paper in Nebraska's metropolis. Tun probabilities are that the mercurial French people may dis play an actito attack of hysterics oyer the Dreyfus verdict that may lead to a revolution. With tins sit uation of alTiiirs iu France and J Bull endeavoring , to make a "good injuu" out of Oom Paul, the farmer with thrifty stock hogs had belter hold them for the June market. Tin. astute democratic Buckeye campaign managers have Coppered Colonel Bryan in great shape. If he does not assist in the campaign for the state ticket he will be ac cused of disloyalty. If McLean is electt'd he will develop into n pow erful presidential possibility. The doughty colonel had better upend the campaign south of the Ohio with the seductive moonshine maid ens, nutity beverages and fast horses. Tin tanner's compendium and home comfort, yclept the Era, o this city endeavors to strengthen its judicial candidate by intimating that he does not belong to all the secret societies iu the community We arc informed that he is a mem berofthe Mabouic, Odd Fellows and G. A. ft. societies. As these aru about the only fraternities tha are well organized in his home vil Inge we can scarcely see how he could do any better. Tun inquiry as to what thepupu lists will think of Colonel Bryan's support of millionaire McLean ii his candidacy for the governuieu ol Ohio will cause no embankment among the great couiinun peopl As the New York Sun exp'nlned tjome time ago, a millionaire who believes in frco silver and a few things like that is not a plutocrat and a public enemy. The million aire who votes the icpublicaii ticket however, is a vampire of the most' dangerous description. Lincoln Journal. A recent issue of the Manilla Times declares that a restaurant in that city, managed on the American system, "where one can get a decent meal without fear of being flickened by a mixture of Hies, oil and other abominations, and for a reasonable price, ought to be a little gold mine to an enter prising man. The writer says especially that the Spanish propri etors of the eating1 houses cannot be made to understand the Ameri cans desire for a "square meal' before beginning his daily work. A roPUMST exchange asks why the trusts contributed to the rcpub- ican campaign fund, if the rcpub- ican party is not in favor of them. The answer is easy, properly sug gests the York Times. There were not half as many trusts that con tributed to the republican as to the democratic campaign fund. In fact the bulk of the mammoth fund luudlcd by the democratic com mittee was contributed by what our populist friends call trusts and the silver trust was not the least among' them. There is no evidence that any trust on earth contributed a cent to the republican fund and no one believes they did, but every body knows the silver and other ggrcgations of capital backed the Jryan campaign with fabulous amounts of money. Tiiiiki: arc now several kinds of democratic platforms before the people iu different states. The Ohio and Kentucky platforms arc essentially alike. Both declare for Bryan and 1G to 1, but iu both states other issues arc attracting attention. The Iowa platform makes no mention of 1G to 1, but merely endorses tho Chicago plat form iu general terms, the new issues being forced conspicuously uto prominence. In Nebraska, Mr. Bryan's own state, silver is given the place of first imparlance but the platlorm also contains plankH on the newer issues of im perialism and trimta, In Mary- and no mention was m a tit of the Chicago platform or the 1G to 1 question. The nominees of the convention are gold-standard dem ocrats. The returns will beeairer- y scanned the morning after the November election by readers the country over to see what variety of platform makes the best showing at the polls. Chicago Record. Hon. M. P. Kinkaid, republican candidate for congress iu this (Sixth) district, had his boyhood iu the states of West Virginia, Penn sylvania and Illinois. He located in the practice of law iu this county about nineteen years ago, having graduated from the law department of the University of Michigan in the class of 187G, and by the choice of liis classmates holding the position of class president iu the senior year. lie was elected a member of the state senate in 18S2, his district comprising tho counties of Holt, Antelope, Pierce, Wheeler, Garfield, Valley, and the then unorganized territory now couipriang the conn ties of Rock, Brown, Keya Paha, and a portion of Cherry county Several of these new counties were formed by bills introduced by him during his senatorial term. By the members of the senate he was made chairman of the judiciary committee of that body, the duties ot which position, iu the estimation of the people he discharged in so credita ble a manner as to call attention to him as an ableconstitutloual lawyer and a man preeminently (nullified for legislative life, and numerous tunes since then he has been invited by residents of this district to stand for congress, and was on the 29th tilt., nominated by acclamation in a very enthusiastic convention.
