One trouble with most hotel and restaurant "corn stanch pudding" is that they put in too much starch and not enough corn, so to speak, which gives consumers some subse quent trouble to shut their eyes. Ballard's Horehound Syrup. A single bottle of Ballard's Horehond Syrup kept about your house for immediate nse will prevent serious sickness, a large doctor bill, and perhaps death, by the use of three or four doses. For curing consumption its success has been simply wonderful, and for ordinary conghs, colds, sore throat, croup, whooping cough, sore chest hemorrhages its effects are surprising and won derful. In quiet, conservative, and cir cumspect Philadelphia, they have a very palatable breakfast dish made of shad roe stewed with mush-rooms and fine herbs, and the colored cooks decline to tell how it is done. 425.00 Be ward. The above reward will be paid for any case of rheumatism not benefited by Ballard's Snow Liniment. There is no pain it will not subdue, no wound it will not heal. Cupid has been effectually boy cotted in Waupaca, Wis. The young ladies foreswore accepting as escorts any young men who drink, and the young men retaliated by agreeing not to seek the society of any young lady who cannot make good bread and coffee, broil a steak, and abstain from chewing gum. Pretty Women. All women look attractive when their color and complexion is clear. If your skin is sallow eyes dull, you are bilious, secure a box of Wil liams' Australian Herb Pills, take as directed, and the feeling of languor will leave you, your eyes brighten, and you are another woman. C, W. Price.Agent. The frame house in which Gen. Grant was born has been moved to Cincinnati and will be put upon ex hibition. Such a proceeding is cer tainly not commendable in this country. There is something re pulsive to the true American in the idea that the objects in which he takes an almost sacred interest should be used for the purpose of sorbid gain. How to Cure Salt Rheum and Tetter. Many persons believe that salt rheum and tet ter can not be cured and quietly submit to be tortured by them. If they would invest twenty five cents in a box of Chamberlain's Eye and Skin Ointment and apply it as directed they would 300c become convinced of their error. It almost instantly relieves the itching and burning sensation and has cured many coses after they had resisted all other treatment from ten to twenty years. Try it. For sale by F. II. Long- ley. The farmers are objects of the especial anxiety of the free traders, if one may judge by their utterance upon the tariff. But their profes sions have a hollow sound. If they are sincere why was it, when a pro position to place agricultural imple ments on the free list was made to the democratic caucus the other night, it was summarily kicked out of the caucus? Agricultural im plements form part of the farmers "necessaries of life," and if the democrats are honest in their pre tended wish to lessen the burdens of the farmers, why did they not apply their theories to these imple ments? The great trouble with democratic tariff reformers is insin cerity. Sincerity and consistency are two very precious jewels, but they are very rare among demo crats. Journal. County Clerk Dickerson, and deputy Clerk Phelps are very busy receiving the asssessor's returns, in addition to their regular duties. Both gentlemen are deservedly pop ular. The crops hereabouts are looking fine. The new and very fine school house is about completed. Sup't of Schools, L. E. Brown, is evidently the right man in the right place. The Prohibitionists are few in number but have at least the cour age of their convictions. There are fewer saloons herea bouts, but is there less drinking of intoxicants. Joel W. Most of the business men of Pax-' ton showed their respects for the dead soldiers by decorating their places of business with the Ameri can flag draped with mourning. James M. Coulter and William Kerby arrived home last Friday from a trip as far west as Cheyenne. They report business at a stand still out there, and that the grass is not as good there as here. According to reports from the Rock Spring coal mines, so far this .spring it has taken all their force to keep up with their orders. This being the case would it not be well for Nebraska dealers to order early? Fred and Frank Pease, Albert and Charlie Wilson, Miss Laura Cooper, Miss Nora Coates, Miss Rosa Wilson, Miss Mamie Greno, Miss Creo Welsh, Miss Maggie Lute, Miss Nellie Lute, Miss Anna Lute, Mr. Harry Lute, Mr. John Richert, attended at Ogalalla in carraiges on Memorial day. Mr. Wm. Granger arrived here last Saturday morning from Mis souri. He comes to take charge of the mechanical department of Tie Pilot. Mr. Granger is a young man but having served several years in this department of the bus iness he is fully qualified and we feel that the typographical appear ance of The Pilot will not retro grade any under his skillful man agement; although there is surely not much room for improvement in the appearance of it as it has been. The Verdict Unanimous. W. D. Suit, druggist, Bippas, Ind., testifies: ,ll can recommend Electric Bitters as the very best remedy, Every bottlo sold has given relief in every case. When in trouble we are apt to forget the abundant favors bestow ed upon us from God. Strange as it may appear well cooked meat in a boarding house is rare. That which is morally wrong can never be made socially or pohticallv right. Belted waists are greatly favored by young ladies for wear about the house. A Woman's Discovery. "Another wonderful discovery lias been mado and that too by a lady in this county. Disease fastened its clutches upon her and for seven years she withstood its severest tests, but her vi tal organs were undermined and death seemed imminent. For three months she coughed in cessantly and could not sleep. Sho bought of us a bottlo of Dr. King's Now Discovery for Con sumption and was so mucli relieved on taking first dose that sho slept all night and with one bottlo has been miraculously cured.
