Miss Lillie Cooper burned her hand severely one day last week. . Clarence, son of Willis Martin, we un derstand is laying' very low with brain fever. John C. Palmer has been quite sick for the past week or ten days, but we are glad to learn that he is again on the con valescent list. We noticed on our streets last Saturday Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Yates, Mr. and Mrs. Phil Brown and Mr. Steve Conway, all from western Lincoln county. Over twenty thousands acres of railroad land changed hands in eastern Keith county last week and "yet there i6 more to follow.'' There is some prospect of the town site changing hands in the near future and it is to be hoped the deal will be made as it will doubtless benefit all par ties. The 30th of this month is Memorial or Decoration Day. This day is made a le gal holiday by act of congress for the purpose of scattering flowers upon the graves and paying tribute to those who are dead that helped save this nation . Let us perpetuate the memory of our dead soldiers by keeping this day sacred and if you carft do more, close your busi ness houses arid place the American flag above your doors draped in mourning. We would be very glad if all the people in Paxton precinct would turn out at an early hour on that day and go to Ogalalla and join the G. A. R. Post at that place in its memorial services. Everybody is invited. Come in your wagons early and let us go in a body to Ogalalla early on the morning of the 30th so that we can get there by ten o'clock. Tho G. A. R. of Ogalalla has given us the invitation, let us accept it. Personal. Mr. N. H. Wannamaker, the merchant nrince of Philadelphia, of making his employes partners in his business, has been announced to the parties interested. It shows that the total cash distributed or set apart for the seven years em ployes, in addition to the usual sal aries for the year, was 109,413, of which 59,158 was in monthly div idends, $40,281 in annual dividends, and 10,000 in pension funds. The scheme has fulfilled the best expect- auons or its generous projector, ard lias greatly strengthened his claims upon the ndehty and gratitude ot his employes.
