Doug and Mary are taking advan tage of the Arbuckle flurry to make a visit of a few months to Kurope. Oh, well, the time to go is when the .-getting is Rood. And with eighteen women bent on cleaning up the pri vate lives and morals of the movie jstars, here, Fiance is a pleasant country. itJ - Outside of the little matter of the divorce, we had always considered Mary and Doug to be above reproach. "Yet. cominff out of the movie the other night, we heard a very nice lady, .along in the fifties, say: "They tell me that Mary. Pickford not only smokes cigarettes, but drinks some thing scandalous." A Moral Crisis In Hay Springs. Hay Springs News: "Horn & Mor .jran, proprietors of the Star theater .announced on the screen that they -would not produce the "Fatty" Ar buckle comedies. In view of the pres ent circumstances surrounding the Ar buckle scandal this was a move in the right direction and will have a lasting effect for good on the morals of our "town and community." j A Ford coupe with wire wheels and carrying the pennant of a big Colo Tado city drew up in front of a house on a quiet residence street about 9( -o'clock Sunday night. It stayed there. I .Someone must have driven it, yet no one dismounted. The street was fair ly dark and shady, the curtains of the coupe were tightly drawn. At 9:01 a woman inside the house wondered who her guests were to be. At 9:30 he was still wondering. But no one came out of the car. At 9:43 the woman inside the house, who was alone, began to be worried. A few months before the place had been robbed and she feared the unknown occupants of the car planned to break in and steal. At 10:01 she could stand it no longer. Jack Hawes was the nearest neigh bor. About that time he was called to the phone, and an agitated voice told him of the suspicious actions of the Fovd coupe. He came over and consulted with her. He decided upon action. Stepping to the sidewalk, near the flivver, he called out: "Hello, there, .are you in any trouble?" Not a sound came from the car. Jack figured that maybe the woman -who had called him over was mis taken. He stepped closer. "Hello," he called, "having any tiouble." Still silence.' Jack walked over real close, to a )lace where he could see there were two occupants in the car a man and a woman. "Any trouble?" he repeated. Came the woman's voice: "Not a bit, thank you," she said, "no trouble at all. Everything is going splendidly-" Then Jack discerned that it was .a case of spooners. The police weren't called. Hint to the lovelorn: There are a r.umber of side roads, just a ihort dis tance out of Alliance, that are com paratively secluded. So far, no move has been made to utilize the old slaughter house as a summer resort, although there IS Of ficial court testimony to the effect that it's a great place to get fresh air. With the exception of a few seats the house was full last Sunday even ing. These few peat were unseen by several who went home or to some other church, because as they thought the house wa.t full. The fault is in the members of the church who sat in the back seats. Now why don't you as members sit in the front seats? Are you setting a good example for the nonmemlers? A woman with a babe was seen to look for a seat and finding she would have to go to a front .'eat returned home. Now when you go into a strange church you do not feel( like going to the front, why then don't you make it as pleasant as pos sible for the visitors in your church? Get next and see that you fill a front seat hereafter. The mother with a small baby knows she may have to retire for a moment with thft child and ahm tin not want to disturb the service anyi more man necessary, so she hesitates to take a front seat. Now don't be a Back-Seat-Hog any longer. Make matters as pleasant as possible for those who are not of our membership. Prayer meeting topic Wednesday, "Abrams Mistakes". Lesson Gen. 12.
