RANDOM SHOTS
Probably a poor guess is better then
nothing, but somehow we wish the
Gering Courier would guess in Alii
ance's favor once in a while. It an
nounced the score of the Thanksgi
ing game betwen this city and Scolts
bluff as 15 to 0, with Alliance on the
short end of the score.
However, it got the figures right
in the Bayard-Beatrice game, where
in the Pride of the Valley went down
to defeat, 80 to 0.
Since the last few defeats, Bayard
hasn't done any crabbing about the
wny other teams get rough.
Some day they'll learn that foot
ball isn't played by wagging the jaw.
And that alibis, no matter how
sensational, aren't as good playing
the game.
The Scottsbuff newspapers aren't
putting out any additional informa
tion on their million dollar pr.ckir.;
plant that city is due to receive, "pro
vided the change can be made."
You remember '.he story of the
gawky country lad who attended his
first dance. He sat around with the
wallflowers for a half an hour, and
finally mustered up his courage. He
walked over in front of the prettiest
girl in the room, and bashfully said:
"Miss, may I have this dance." The
pretty girl gave him the once over
and wasn't attracted by the prospect.
"You may not," she said The boy
didn't know how to make a graceful
exit. He stood grinning at her for
half a minute, colored up, and then
said, sotto voce, or almost sotto, "Gee,
I wish I hadn't sayed anything!'
There's an old saying regarding the
counting of unhatched chickens that
is herewith called to the attention of
anyone who is in search of wisdom.
In the present stage of the game,
that saying is equally interesting to
both Alliance and her envious neighbor.
