WEAR OUT OLD ONES TO CUUjVING COSTS Here's a good analysis of the over all craze by the editor of the Lincoln Evening Journal, who points out that the best way to cut living costs Is to wear out your bid clothes in stead of seeking a substitute and thereby pushing up living costs for someone else. Why fall for the other fellow's ganieT Read it and reflect: I Do the people think T They do not. I PrnnfT T.nnlr hnur sn.llo ho " n for the ,dca of wearing overalls for down the C0Bt r living. If they had stopped to think they would have ascertained that two things were bound to happen: They would run up the price of overalls and run up the cost of living on those who ordi narily use overalls for daily wear. ir there Is any way by which the game can be beaten it has not ytt been made public. The makers of denim and the manufacturers of overalls, seeing a big demand for them, will put up prices regardless of the fact that the old price gives them a big margin of prortt. Price is based nowadays on what a man with the goods can get, the chap who believed in small profits and quick sales having disappeared. Onlv those whose business or pleasure takes them into the small towis re alize how large a part of the male population wear overalls in ordinary times. On these demands for donlm duds by the faddists and their fol lowing will lay an additional tax. Meanwhile the clothing manufactur ers will simply curtail pro'luctU.i as nearly as possible or as toey guess consumption will be and thus made demand and supply maintain the present ratio. Reaching for a sub stitute will not do the business. Wearing your old clothes won't ae your picture in the paper like wear ing overalls, but it Is a better way of winning your point.
