Mrs. Frank Totmelsel of Hemlng ford was an Alliance business visitor on Wednesday. Their ranches are Irri gated and they raise large amounts of timothy and red top for hay. Cows raised by Mr. Showers brought $113 per head last fall and it took them ten days to drive them to the rail road. They reach the railroad at Rock Springs, Wyo., from where a graded automobile road is being built to Yellowstone park, via his ranch and their ' town of Pinedale. They are located sixty miles south of the park. Pinedale, which is 106 miles from the railroad, has a news paper and is a live little city. Located among the big govern ment forest reserves Mr. Showers and his neighbors were among the forest fires last fall, there being seven fires at one time in their vicin ity, with smoke so thick day and night that objects more than 150 feet distant could not be seen. Their i buildings are built of logs and they have many conveniences. He does not encourage homesteading In that part of Wyoming unless water can be Bee u red for irrigation as he says that the land without water is al most worthless. Stock is in good shape and will pull through all right if there is no heavy snow during the balance of the winter. The latest creations in Millinery received dally at Highland-Holloway Co. Plumbe, president of the Alliance Packing company, and Charles Brittan, vice president of the First State bank at Alliance, were in the city the first of the week con ferring wit hlocal bankers over the prospects of the new enterprise. Home service sections of the Amer ican Red Cross have been notified to inform all disabled men of this fact and to urge the mto avail themselves of the opportunity. Under the vo cational rehabilitation act, any man receiving compensation is entitled to free Instruction, but only those vo cationally handicapped are entitled to training pay. As a result, most men not eligible for training pay could not take advantage of the free tuition offered, because they could not meet the living expenses at the school.
