Miss Grace Ferrier, who has been visiting her sister, has returned to Lincoln, where she will continue her work in business college. D. J. Pollock of Scottsbluff spent a few days this week attending to bus iness matters in Alliance. Lunn will likely be the candidate for the office made vacant by the removal of George Mollring to Wyoming. Friends of Percy Cogswell will be Vlad to know that he is rapidly re covering from the effects of the fall from the porch of his home a couple of weeks ago. Mrs. Ada B. Allen is entertaining the members of the G. I. A. at a kensington at her oine on Niobrara this afternoon. Twenty-five ladk-3 are present and the affair is proving very enjoyable. Dainty refreshments will be served. "The Easter Fire on the Hill rf Slane" is the title of , a three-act drama to bo presented at the Impet ial March 17, by the pupils of St. Agnes Academy. Limited space pro hibits a full report of what Is in store for those who attend. State Publicity iDrector of War Savings Work Mattson of Omaha was an Alliance visitor Wednesday. Mr. Mattson is devoting a great deal of time to the work and 'is very opti mistic of the results attained, but in sists that the gcod work go on. F. A. Bald, member of TheThom-as-Bald Investment . Company, re turned this morning from a business trip to eastern Nebraska. Louis Towell and wife left Wed nesday morning for Moorcroft, Wyo., to look after their homestead near there. They will move to the home stead next month, t George Milburn and wife arrived Wednesday afternoon from Indian apolis, Ind., to make their home in Alliance. Mr. Milburn will have charge of the soda fountain it Thicle's. He is an expert in his line of work and conies highly rec ommended. John W. Thomas of Lincoln at tended the dinner and business meet ing of the Travelers Protective Asso ciation held in Omaha last Wednes day, as a representative of Post M of .Alliance. More than 100 state mem bers were present. We are indebted greatly to Chas. M. Haskell, prominent stockman of Johnstown, Nebr., who accompanied bis subscription remittance one day last week with the following note short but to the point: "I like you and your paper very much. Would not do without it. Stock here Id wintering very good and I believe the loss will be very slight." We appreciate the compliment. Alliance may get a chance to see a real war tank during the coming Victory loan campaign. This is be cause of the fact that more than 200 fast' American fighting tunks have been lent by the war department to the liberty loan organization to bo sent over city streets and country roads during the victory loan cam paign as advertising features. Be tween twelve and twenty will be as signed to each federal reserve dis trict. Mr. Fennlng, of Gerlng, spent tho latter part of the week visiting with his son, George, and bride, of this City. The last of the Centenary series of sermons will be preached Sunday, and the effort to induce as many as will to Join the Tithers' band will be made. This proves a means of grace not only to the tither, but a great blessing to the church. God says today as of old, ''Bring yo nil tho tithes into my storehouse, and try me and see If I will not open the windows of heaven and pour out on you such a blessing that there will not be room enough to contain it." The early part of the evening was occu pied by a very interesting program, which included numbers by Rever end Epler, J. S. Rheln, Reverend Kearns and Mrs. Rheln. After the program refreshments were served and an informal reception was held in the church parlors. !
