An Alliance business man who has
a new car, one of the finest made,
took a number of the boys to Scotts
bluff Sunday afternoon to attend the
ball game there between the team
from Alliance and that of Scotts
bluff. On the way home the autos
.carrying the bunch were unfortunate
enough to get mired down where
tome energetic Scottsbluff county
farmer had "irrigated" the roadway.
The Alliance auto owner all but lost
his temper and did temporarily lose
confidence in his car when it refused
to become a German submarine and
pull itself out of the mudhole. We
understand he is now planning on
equipping the car with a periscope
and a propeller and rudder so as to
be ready in the future to travel land
or seas (of mud).
E. J. Straub and wife of Gales
burg. Ilk, are visiting W. M. Weid-
enhamer and family.
Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Oantz left
Wednesday for Omaha, Kansas City
and Denver.
Mrs. Robert Gavin visited in Alli
ance Wednesday between trains with
Dispatcher Gavin and family. Mrs.
Gavin and children were on their
way to Dalton, where they will make
their home.
Mrs Jerry Madden and daughter
returned Wednesday to their home at
Sheridan. Wyo.
Jos. Duhon was at the court house
Wednesday of last week. He came
in to bring in the registration re
turns from Lawn precinct. After
keeping the registration place open
until midnight he drove six miles to
catch a train to Alliance. He is one
Of the well-known and prominent
farmers of that part of Box Butte.
Returning, he reached Marslaud and
then walked six miles b iore he went
to bed. When it la considered that
all this was done without pay and
this added to the fact that he was
born in Bohemia, one cannot help but
express admiration for a man of this
type.

the room until recently occupied by
Homer Wilson. The Grill room is
boing handsomely finished and will
be more convenient than the old one.

from W. 8. Arheson. It was the first

were highly pleased with the country
and the prospects of another bumper
