Two yeurs ago wiieu the European
war commenced to unsettle business
conditions, the Associated Advertis

to ascertain to just what extent the
war had afiecUui, or ruther decreas

investigation showed a decrease of
2.3 per cent as compared with the
previous year. ; : : t
In 1915 another investigation
along similar lines was made
tnroughout the United States and
Canada and then it was ascertained
that in the aggregate, tho average in
crease in American consumption had
increased 10.93 per cent over the
previous year. In 6pite of the war
this Increase was recorded. This
investigation showed that the Unit
ed States was enjoying a period of
unprecedented -prosperity. This be
li:g truo, it Is believed that the year
1916 will finish with a record never
betore approached.
