Barbour passed through Alliance Saturday enroute to his home at Lincoln after spend ing a few days at the potash plant where he was studying conditions. Prof. Barbour is head of tbe geolog ical department of the University of Nebraska and is making a careful sandy of conditions over the state. Brown, of Gor don, passed thru Alliance Monday on their way to Hastings (or a few weeks' visit. Rev. Brown is now pastor of the Presbyterian church at Gordon, but was formerly pastor of the Alliance Presbyterian church, leaving here abbut two years ago. Mrs. Anna fnrrv return l. They were to have returned together, also, but in their separate visits to different places they became separated and were unable to again locate each oth er. Mrs. Beach returned home Sun day. Miss Pauline Brost went to Ells worth Saturday for a few days' visit with relatives and friends. Mrs. C. P. Wakeman went to Anti och Saturday, where she was joined by Mr. Wakeman, and together they departed Saturday afternoon for Grand Island. Omaha and other points, for an extended visit with rel atives and friends. Mr. and Mrs. Lon Blake were up from Bingham Friday and Saturday visiting with friends and looking af ter business matters. Mrs. Amaziah Johnson came in Saturday from Billings, Mont., to join her husband, who is here work ing in the interests of the Royal Highlander order. She will remain here until the middle of next month when they will return to Billings. Mr. Johnson is state organizer of the order for Montana. Miss Margaret Shaw arrived Sat urday morning from Rochester. Minn., to Join her parents. Dean and Mis. Wm. C. Shaw, of St. Matthews Episcopal church, and will make Al liance her home. County Agent Seidell and A. E. Anderson, government expert, went to Chadron Wednesday of last week and on. Worley and family departed Monday for Denver where they will visit for a few days before proceed ing to California where they will spend the winter. Mr. Worley will return to Alliance in about six weeks, leaving the family to visit during the remainder of the winter. The Box Butte county exhibit at the International Dry Farming Con gress at Denver has been returned and will be on display Tuesday, Oc tober 26. This date is tbe second day of Market Week, and is under the direction of George Darling. D. F. Kibble and family arrived Sunday from Indianapolis, Ind., for an extended visit with his cousin, E. T. Kibble and family, and with Miss Maude Moist, who is visiting the Kibble family. Joe Smith departed the first of this week for Omaha for a week's visit with bis mother and sister, and to look after business matters. We notice in tbe Scottsbluff papers that a new banking institution will open shortly at that place. Tbe pro moters of the new bank are nearly all ScottsblufT men. R. C. Lalng, of Jericho Springs, Mo., who bad been here for the past few weeks visiting with his son. E. G. Lalng, and family, departed Mon day for Nam pa. Idaho, for a short visit after which he will go to Los Angeles to spend the winter. E. U. accompanied him as far as Sidney. Rev. F. C. Barrett went to Sootts blufT and Mitchell Monday for a short visit before' returning to his home at Albion, Nebr. For the past two Sundays Rev.
