Warm Weather Again
Western Nebraska experienced a
alight cold spell on Sundar and Mon
day. It Is reported that enow fell
for two hours on Pine Ridge, forty
miles north of Alliance, while the
weather In town was very chilly and
damp. Krosts have fallen for sever
al nights. Hay feverltea are wear
ing broad smiles and packing away
their eitra supplies of handker
chiefs. The weather haa again turn
ed warm since Monday.

ucation, beginners -five year old
children will be admitted only dur
ing the first six weeka of school.
Children who will become five years
of age during this time should be

"FOR a Joint resolution to amend section
1 of Article of the Constitution of tho
State of Nebraska, relating to revenue.
Ba it Resolved and Enacted by the People
of the State of Nebraska:
Section 1. That bee lion 1 of Article
of the Constitution of the State of Ne
braska be amended to read us follows:
8ec. 1. The rules of taxation shall bs
uniform as to any riven class und taxes
shall be levied upon such property as tha
legislature shall prescribe. Taxes may
also be impotted on Incomes, privileges
ai.d occupations, which taxes may ba
graduated and progressive and reasonable
exemptions may be provided. In addition
to those hereinafter specifically mentioned
In section 2 of this article.
Sec. 2. That at the general election In
November. 1HU, there shall be submitted
to the electors of the state for their ap
proval or rejei-tlon the foregoing proposed
amendment to the Constitution in the fol
lowing form; "For amendment to the
Constitution providing for uniform and
progressive taxation" and "against said
proposed amendment to the Constitution
providing for uniform and progressive
taxation."

In 1114, there shall be printed upon the
ballot of each elector for his approval or
rejection the above and foregolns; amend
ment In the following form: "For pro
posed amendment to tha constitution pro
viding that In all civil oases and in crim
inal cases less than felonies, five-sixths
of tha Jury may render a verdict," and
"Against tha proposed amendment to the
Constitution provided that In all civil
cases and in criminal cases less than felo
nies, nve-slxths of the jury may render a
verdict."

as hereinafter set forth In full, is submit
ted to the electors of the Stale of Nebras
ka, to le voted upon at the general elec
tion to be held Tuesday, November 3rd,
A. D. 1814.
"FUR a Joint resolution proposing amend
ments to Section 1, of Article V, and
Section L'4. or Article V. of the Consti
tution of Nehruska, relating to term of
olHce and salary of Governor and other
executive olticers.
Be it Resolved and Enacted by tha People
of the State of Nebraska:
Section 1. That at the general election
for state and legislative otllces. to be held
on the Tuesday succeeding the first Mon
day In November. 114, the following ba
submitted as amendments to Sections 1
and 24. of Article V, of tha Constitution
of Nebraska: ,
Sec. 1. The executive department
shall consist of a Governor, who shall
hold his office for a term of two years
from the first Thursday after the first
Tuesday in January, next after his elec
tion, and until his successor is elected and
qualified. In addition to the Governor, tha
executive department shall Include tha
following officers: Lieutenant Governor,
Secretary of State, Auditor of Public Ac
counts, Treasurer, Superintendent of Pub
lic Instruction. Attorney General, and
Commissioner of Public Lands and Build
ings, each of whom shall hold his office
for the term of two years from the first
Thursday after tha first Tuesday in Janu
ary, next after his election, and until his
successor is elected snd qualified; Pro
vided, however, that the first election of
said officers shall be held on the Tuesday
succeeding the first Monday In November,
1116. nnd each succeeding election shall
ba held at the same relative time In each
even yeur thereafter. The Governor, Sec
retary of State. Auditor of Public Ac
counts, and Treasurer Shalt reside at the
seat of government during their terms of
office, and keep tha public records, books
and papers there, and shall perform such
duties as may be equlred by law.
Sec. 24. The salary of ths Governor
shall be five thousand ($5,000.00) dollars
per annum. The salaries of Auditor of
Public accounts and Secretary of State,
Superintendent of Public InHtructlou and
Commissioner of Public Lands and Build
ings shall bo two thousand five hundred
($2,500.00) dollars each per annum, and of
the Attorney General, four thousand dol
lars ($4,000.00) per annum, the salary of
the State Treasurer shall be three thou
sand ($3,000.00) dollars per annum, and tha
Lieutenant Governor shall receive one and
one-half the compensation of a senator,
and after the adoption of this constitu
tion they shall not receive to their own
use any fees, costs. Interests upon public
moneys In their hands, or uncVr their con
trol, perquisites of office or other com
pensation, and all fees that may hereafter
be payable by law for services performed
by an officer provided for In this article
or the constitution shall be paid In ad
vance Into the state treasury. There shall
be no allowance for clerk hire In the of
fices of the Superintendent of Public In
struction and Attorney General.
See. 2. That at said election on tha
Tuesday succeeding tha first Monday In
