ments to Section 1, of Artlcl V, and

tution of Nebraska, relating to term of
office and salary of Governor and other
executive officers.
Be it Keeolved and Knacted by th Fopl
of the State of Nebraska:
Section 1. That at the general election
for state and legislative oQlces. to be held
on the Tuesday succeeding the first Mon
day In November, 1914. the following be
submitted as amendments to Sections 1
and 24. of Artlcl V. ot the Constitution
of Nebraska:
Sec. 1. The executive department
hall consist of a Governor, who shall
hold his office for a term of two year
from tha flmt Thursday after the first
Tuesday In January, next after hia elec
tion, and until his successor Is elected and
qualified. In addition to the Oovernor. th
executive department shall include th
following officers: Lieutenant Governor,
Secretary of State. Auditor of Public Ac
counts. Treasurer, Superintendent of Pub
llo Instruction. Attorney General, and
Commissioner of Public Lands and Build
ings. eju;h of whom shall hold hia office
for the term of two year from the first
Thursday after the first Tuesday in Janu
ary, next after hi election, and until hia
successor 1 elected and qualified; Pro
vided, however, that the first election ot
aid office shall be held on the Tuesday
succeeding the first Monday In November.

be held at tha same relntlve time in each
even year thereafter. The Governor. Sec
retary of State. Auditor of Publlo Ac
counts, and Treasurer shall reside at th
seat of government during their terms of
office, and keep the public records, book
and papers there, and shall perform such

Sec. 24. The salary of th Governor
hull be five thousand ($5,000.00) dollar
per annum. The salaries of Auditor of
Public account and Secretary of State,
Superintendent of Public Instruction and
Commissioner of Public Lands and Build
ings shall be two thousand five hundred
($2,500.00) dollars each per annum, and of
the Attorney General, four thousand dol
lars ($4,000.00) per annum, the salary of
the State Treasurer shall be three thou
sand ($3. 000. 00) dollar per annum, and the
Lieutenant Governor shall receive one and
one-half the comsenaatlon of a senator,
and after the adoption of this constitu
tion they shall not receive to their own
use any fees, costs. Interests upon publlo
money In their hands, or under their con
trol, perquisites of office or other com
pensation, and Hi) fees that may hereafter
be payable by law for services performed
by an officer provided for In this artlcl
of the constitution shall be paid In ad
vance Into the state treasury. There shall
b no allowance for clerk hire In the of
fices of the Superintendent of Public In
struction and Attorney General.
Sec. 2. That at said election on the
Tuesday succeeding the first Monday In
November, 1914, on the ballot of each
elector voting thereat, there shall be
printed or written th words: "For pro
posed amendments to the constitution,
fixing the term of office and salary for
governor, and other executive officer,"
and "Against proposed amendments to
the constitution, fixing the term of office
and salary for governor, and other execu
