ARTICLE CREATES
MUCH INTEREST
The article in The Herald week
btfore last regarding the shipping of
catalogues by the big Chii-ao mail
order liounes to customers at Alli
ance and ether points, has attracted
much attention In the diferent news
papers In the western end of the
wtate. The following clipping from
the Chappell Hegl.-rter of last week
comments on the article:
During the past week several mail
WH-ka of large catalogues from the
eastern mall order houses were dis
patched from different trains to this
point. The same thing occurred
very likely over the entire country.
A neaiby newspaper of this section
of the state estimates that the cat
alogue Itself coat 1.00 besides the
postage, which amounts to 25 cents.
These catalogues are distributed in
to nearly every family In the coun
try. Wonder how many local deal
ers spend this amount In assisting
their customers in buying.

Nervousness Pays
Mrs. Martha J. W'iLson was stand

Harvard. Nebraska, when the blow
off valve of the Harvard Electric
Company'. engine in the nearby
plant u I lowed a large amount of
steam to ea-.-ape, causing th? afore
said lady to Jmiup through the win
dow of the depot. The Uuly later
sued the railroad and the municipal
corporation for $3,000 for injurlesr
said to have been received from
the accident. A jury gave her
$1,000. The moral is, "Don't blow
