I Grand Jury Will Inquire Fully Intc Sellers Case Union Pacific May De lay Putting in Rates Governor Urges That New Mains Be Installed. Lincoln, Nov. 21 The thirty-fifth annual convention of the Nebraska Suffrage association began Kb ses sions here by holding an executive session at the home of Dr. Inex Phtl hrlck, president of the organization. Thirty-five members attended the meeting. The two days' session of the organi zation began in All Souls' church. The convention will close Thursday after noon with the annual election of offl cers. Members of the association will attend the Mrs. Pankhurst meeting at the city auditorium tomorrow even ing. Roads May Delay Putting in Rates. STEWART F0UNDN0T GUILTY Accused Beatrice Institute Official Given Clearance. Beatrice. Neb., Nov. 21. After being out thirty-eight minutes the Jury in tne case of Thomas E. Stewart, .harmed with the embezzlement of the funds of the state amounting to $1. 337.50, whl'e bookkeeper at the feeble minded institute, returned a verdict of not guilty. Stewart was bookkeeper during the administration of Dr. G. I Roe, an appointee of Governor Shallenberger. When Dr. W M. Thomas was assigned charge of the institute as superintend ent Stewart was reappointed by Gov ?rnor Aldrich. He had served but a few months when trouble occurred between him and Dr. Thomus and his resignation was asked by the govern cr, who sent State Accountant Tulleys here to check up his books, which abowed ihat there was a shortage of $1,337.50. He was instructed to put it back by the state executive or he would he arrested. He said he was innoc-nt of any wrongdoing and re fused to heed the warning of the gov ernor, and his arrest followed. Stewart, nfj the witness stand, de nied every charge brought by the state. Judge Petnheiton, soon after the trial began announced that unless the state could connect Stewart with t'te removal of the money he would have to instruct the jury to bring in a verdii t of acquittal. Firebug Tries to Burn Pool Hall. An attempt was made to burn down Roy Drake's oool hall at Old, Neb. The firebug used an augur to bore a hole through the side of the building, but when he struck the back plaster h transferred his efforts to the rear door of the hcilding. Through the hole h poured some kerosene, lighted it and made his getaway, leaving his tr:c!;s in the fresh fallen snow.
