Every afternoon the gym resounds
with the enthusiastic laughter of
ball players. The girls and boys are
divided Into classes, and alternately
the days are devoted to basket ball
and indoor baseball. Instructor Wal
ton's ability is no less marked in
the gymnasium than in the class
room .
Prominent among the men who are
doing good work are Beach, Crow,
Rennau, Smith, Dlx and Mollring.
The girls enrolled are Misses Hen-
richs, Fecht, Large, Welllver, O'
Neil, Tucker, Beauchamp, Mollring
and Dufur.
Special Numbers
The Junior Normal has had the
privilege of hearing some especially
fine entertainments and lectures,
which have been presented during
last and the first of this week.
For last week the numbers were:
Monday, violin solo by Miss Naomi
Nelson.
Wednesday, talk on education by
Prof. Martin.
Thursday, vocal solo by Mrs. Par
sons.
Friday, a last year's student, Rev.
Ira E. Nolte of Hay Springs, told
of the advantages of the school,
compared with other Normals he
had recently visited.
The numbers of this week were:
Tuesday, piano solo by Norman Mc-
Corkle.
A talk on ' Smiles'' by James E.
Deliell, deputy state superintend
ent. Mr. Delzell presented his
theme in an Interesting fashion,
and the smiles became laughter.
He held the attention of all, and
his speech was especially inform
ative to prospective teachers.
Wednesday, Dr. J. L. B. Jones, of
the city, gave the first of a ser
ies of lectures on Psychology, at
the chapel.

were taken by thirty students on Fri
day and Saturday.

MAINE REDUCED TO SHELL
Iron Work Shattered by Explosion
or Corroded.
Havana, June 17. A greatly In
creased area of the wreck of the bat
tleship Maine was exposed to view
when the water level within the coffer
dam had been lowered to a total of
ten and a halt feet below normal.
Everywhere the Iron work exposed,
If not shattered by the explosion, has
been so cerroded as to be reduced to
a mere shell, making U highly proba
ble that the plan to repair and float
any part of the ship must be abandoned.

hey, a farmer living near Garner, is
showing a certificate received from
an assaylst to the effect that gold dis
covered on his farm some time ago
assays $83 a ton. The extent of the
vein is not known.
