A matter relative to vacating Railroad street west of the electric light plant and opening another street farther north came up before the city council last night. The Hurlington railroad com pany desires to make changes in location of freight depot and trackage since the building of the new passenger station which it further intends to beautify by laying out parks on either end. Prop erty owners west of the light plant do not wish to make some of the changes desired by the company and for the further discussion of the proposition the Commercial club will meet with the council tomorrow (Friday) evening in the city hall. It is a matter of interest to all citizens and taxpayers and The Herald is requested by Mayor Smith to urge everyone to attend. County Nominees To Meet Saturday According to the rules of the new primary voting system, the nominees for county office must meet next Sat urday and select a county central com mittee for the coming campaign. This selection is made by the nominees. A committeeman from each precinct is selerted nnd also the appointment of a county chairman and secietary. Prisoner Brought . - Here For Protection Sheiiff Mote of Dawes county ar rived in the city last Friday from Chadion, having in charge a negro who stabbed a white man most serious ly at that place. It was feared the victim of the negro's knife would die, and as a result, public indignation might culminate in a lynching, and hence he was brought to this county for protection.
