after described, be stricken from the
assessment rolls of Box Butte county,
Nebraska, for tho reason that said
property Is church property and be
longs to tho church of the Holy
Rosary of Alliance, Nebr., and is
only to be used for churph hospital
and church purposes, and is not tax
able under the laws of Nebraska, to
wlt. Commencing at tho Intersection
of the north line of Kansas street
with the west lino of Big Horn ave
nue of Sheridan division to the town,
now city of Alliance, according to
the recorded plat, thereof, said point
being 80 feet west of tho southwest
corner of black lettered "D" of said
addition, thence west along the north
line of Kansas street and the continua
tion thereof 300 feet, thenco north at
right angles thereto three hundred
feet to intersect the west line of Big
Horn avenue aforesaid; thence south
In said west line (300) three hundred
feet to tho place of beginning. Black
lettered '"D" in Sheridan addition to
tho town, now city of Alliance, ac
cording tp the recorded plat thereof.

tions" on account of the expense and
no possibility of gaining anything. It

following reason; That tho board by
motion regularly made and passed,
previously agreed to check up the
various offices to the time limit, as

ed is a very careless practice and may be
the cause of a disastrous fire in the city.

out a fire while the wind is blowing, nor to
leave one burning at any time without

Firemens' Dance.
The disciples of Terpsichore hAd
much cause for rejoicing on last Mon
day evening. Why? Well, because on
that evening the Firemen gave their
Annual ball, and it proved to bo one of
the most successful n Hairs of its kind
which has been licit in tho city for ti
long time. A large number of tickets
had been sold during tho day by hustl
ing members of tho department. Of
course nearly all those who bought
tickets attended the dance nud henco n
largo crowd and a good time. The ac
tive membors of the department,
dressed in fire-fighting attire, preceded
by Chief W. O. Barnes nnd wife led
the grand march. A feature of tho
ball was tho distribution of favors to
tho dancers, who in turn gave them to
the parties with whom they wished to
dance. The favors for tho ladies being
minature fire-bells, while the gentlemen
were presented with "little" hatchets.
When the last strains of Homo Sweet
Home had died away nearly all those
present repaired to tho North West
cafe, where artistically decorated tables
laden with good tilings awaited the
fire-boys and their friends. Competent
service and the following menu brought
forth many complimentary expression's

and with a solemn declaration that

fow days ago, very glad to hoar from
you.
Well, I hnvor becomo a farmer for
tho present, do not know how long It
will last Havo bought mo a farm,
fifteen miles out of Boise, seven miles
from Meridian, seven miles from
Niunpu, and thrco miles from Slur. 1
bought it JiiBt as an investment, as
I thought there wns money in It, so
do not know how long" 1 will keep It.
Land Is selling at all kinds of prices,
from ?2G to $1000 per acre. Somo of
theso flno fruit farms bring any kind
of a price. This In tho greatest fruit
country I have over seen, and tho
orchards look flno now, all In blobm.
They depend on Irrigation hero, havo
plenty of wnter and enn turn on the
water Just when they feel Hko It.
They do not rnlso any corn hero, nB
they can mako more money out of
other crops. TIiIb Is a great alfalfa,
timothy and clover country, and lots
of bluo grass, which makes up the
most of tho pastures. Thoro Is always
good sale for hay of all kinds.
I am staying with Mr. Jones, thd

there is a crop of oats on tho plnco
this season so I can not mako any
use of it now. However I expect to

driving outfit, so I can run around
some.

ing; business would pay very well,
everything of that kind is pretty well
overdono hero. However thero Is plen
ty of work of all kinds, J2.50 to $3.00
