FLOWERS IN MEXICO. So Plentiful Tlint Tliey Arr Une.l Tor (ilcnl I'lilille Deeoi'iidons, As a pt'oplo the Sloxicans aio very fond of ilowors, and every village, town and city 1ms itH place where tlowers are sold, and many of the larger places have extensive llower markets. Often the (lowers brought to the market are wild specimens found In the woods and the fields, but all are beautiful. In many of the smaller towns and villages the public parks and the sidewalks of the streets are used as places for the sale of flowers. Everywhere they may be bought nt surprisingly low prices. So plentltul are flowers they are used for great public decorations. Some times whole parks and the fronts of buildings for many streets are covered with floral decorations ou a feast day. The Mexican love of flowers has been Inherited fiom n long Hue of flower loving ancestors. More tlinu it thou sand years ngo the chief feature of worship among Uie Toltecs was the great floral offering which was made to the fair god once a year and which lasted for n whole Mexican week. Dur ing this festival one of the features was a great floral procession, which traversed the principal streets of the city to the sound of musical Instru ments. Every ouo In the procession carried flowcra to lny upon the altur of the god or to place upon Uie steps or walls of his temple. In this procession were princes, nobles, priests nnd com moners. This floral festlvul was an expression of the love of nature for which the Toltecs were noted. Until they came Into contact with the Az tecs later ou In history they were pure ly nature worshipers, ami flowers and fruits formed the chief part of their offerings. So the Mexican conies by his love of flowers honestly. IntermnrrylHU Auicmir Uuolm, Among th" odd habits of rooks Is the way that members of the same rookery hnve of Intermarrying generation after generation. The mules always choose their wives from their near neighbors, nnd If one should be so bold ns to bring home to his rookery a bride from a distance the other rooks will invnrl nbly refuse to receive her and will force the pair to build some way off. In the neighborhood of bit; rookeries outlying nests of this kind may always be found. IipIrIiiiii MnrrliiKen. In Belgium It Is the custom to give certificates of inarrlages'in the form of little books, which also contain it sum mary of the marriage laws and among a mass of other miscellaneous Informa tion directions for the feeding nnd enre of Infants. There are also places for entering the names and birthdays of the children of the mnrrlage, the au thorities considerately affording space for twelve such entries. AhviijH MoiuctliliiK WronK.
