If the old brindle cow should get out, many a time a woman would walk the streets half the night looking for her, but let a 18-year-old son or daugh ter fail to show up and the parents re tire for the night, hardly giving the matte a second thought. We dare not be too hopeful over the future of the great human race as long as fath ers and mothers think more of round ing up a 20 cow or $3 shoat than tbey do of corraling their sons and daugh ters at reasonable hours in the even ing. Sioux City Daily Journal, 8th The Sioux City, Crystal Lake and Homer railway may be oouverted from a gasoline line t an eleotrie line duiing the summer. I he deal is now pend ing, and if the change is made it it possible the road will be conducted under the present management, the power to be supplied by the Sioux City Traction company. For some time there hns been a demand for better service to and from the lake whioh is a flr.e summer resort for Sioux Cityans. That some action must be taken lias been patent. For a time rumor had it that the traction company would pur chase the Foye line, but this has been denied by the officials of the oompany. "We have made no move toward se curing the Foye line," said E L Kirk, general manager of the traction com pany, "and we do not expect to extend our own lines to the lake. There is simply nothing in the rumor. It is true we have received a proposi tion to furnish power for the Foye line, and if desired we are ready to talk bus'nees in the matter of power. But there will be no move by the traction company. The fact that a party of surveyors bas been working in South Sioux City bas excited comment in the suburb. It was thought the traction company was preparing for an exten sion of it line to the lake. The plan was said to exteud the line from the present terminus across the Burlington tracks to the Crystal Lake park. That the surveyors were in the employ of the traction oompany is denied by Mr Kirk, who says that be does not know who they were.
