Mrs. Cato Neely was taken to Mercy hospital December 2. Others on the sick list are: Mr. Leonard Jones, Mr. Charles Hopkins, Mr. Ar thur Ashby. Mrs. Clara Washington was called home by the serious illness of her mother. Mrs. George Cooper entertained the j Omaha Adiibitume club Wednesday, j December 2. A delightful luncheon1 was served. The banquet and reception given in honor of Rev. J. P. Jackson was well attended and enjoyed by all. The Baptist association which met > at the Tabernacle Baptist church was j well attended. Mrs. John Mills spent several days | in St. Paul this week. _ The Phyllis Wheatley reading circle met Thursday afternoon, December 3, j at the residence of Mrs. Lowrry, 1018 Twenty-second avenue. It was a very successful meeting. Three new mem bers were added to the circle. At the close of the business session the hostess served dainty refreshments. G—On Sunday, Nov ember 29, the Junior Division of the District of Columbia Branch held a meet ing in the interest of the National Asso ciation for the Advancement of Colored People's Defense Fund at the Metropol itan Church, at which Robert W. Bag nail. Director of Branches of the Associa tion, was the principal speaker. At this meeting an interesting program was renedered by the Juniors under the direction of Mrs. A. S. Pinkett, who is in 'charge of the Junior Division. A feature of the meeting was an original poem on the National Negro Anthem composed and read by the eleven year old daughter of Mrs. Pinkett.
