McDonald, 2859 Wirt street, left Saturday for her home. The Rev, Jordan W. Tutt, pastor of Mt. Zion Raptist church, Sioux City, la., who was the guest of the Rev. Z. E. McGee and preached for him at Pleasant Green Raptist Church Sunday, left for his home Monday afternoon. Fred D. Houston, one of Omaha’s old est and best known barbers, left Sunday for Homestead. Pa., where he will be two former Omahans, Messrs. Rruce and two former Omahans. Messrs. Rrce and Jones. Mr. Houston leaves many warm friends here who wish him success in bis new field. Brown spent the week end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Brown, 2863 Miami street. Miss Sarah J. Brown, younger daughter of Mr. Josiali Brown. 1514 Burdette street, was detained at home from school last week by illness. The Kev. Frederick Divers, pastor of Bethel A. M. E. church, returned Friday morning from Kansas City, Mo., where | he attended the Presiding elders’ council, j Mrs. E. II. McDonald of 2859 Wirt I street who has been on the sick list this week is improving. Mrs. Juanita Carritor of Storm I>ake, la., has been the bouse guest of Mrs. Hat tie E. Smith, 2854 Binney street, for the last ten days. Mr. and Mrs. Augustus Hicks have pur chased a beautiful six-room modern home at 3010 Miami into which they expect to move about June 1, renting their present home at 2716 Miami street. Mr. and Mrs. William Murphy are erect ing a new building for their famous Chicken Shark on West Center street with four living rooms above the store ' Into which they will move as soon as the build ing is completed. The Woman’s Auxiliary of the Church of St. Philip the Deacon held a well at tended and interesting meeting Thursday, April 23, at the residence of Mrs. Otis Shipman, 2724 North Thirtieth street. Mrs. William H. Robinson of 2122 Lake street was called to Kansas City, Mo., Wednesday night by the illness of her mother, Mrs. Hary H. Harris. Mr. John II. Broomfield who has been on the sick list for the past ten days went to St. Joseph’s hospital Tuesday for treatment and rest. His physician has ordered him to take an absolute rest for several days. The Rev. J. H. Streeter, pastor of the M. E. church, South Side, has been assigned to Clay Center, Kans., and is leaving soon for his new charge. SCOTT AND YANCY The wedding of Miss Susie Scott, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. P. James Scott, to Mr. Shirley Yancy took place Monday at 1 o'clock at the home of Mrs. Tillie A. Reese of Council (Huffs, la. Dr. Wil liam F. Holts performed the ceremony. A reception followed at the bride’s home in the evening. She received many beau tiful and costly presents. Mrs. George l.itmon served the wedding dinner at 6 p. m. The happy couple are at home at 242.1 Parker street. The Apex Tennis club showered Mr. and Hrs. MORIAH BAPTIST CHURCH 24th and Ohio Sts. Rev. G. W. Day, Pastor. Large congregations were present ail day Sunday. The revival which was to have continued until May 3, was brought to a close Sunday because of the illness of the pastor. The meet ings were a success with nine addi tions. The groups made their reports, Group No. 4, Mrs. S. Clark, captain, carrying off the honors and Mrs. G. Thomas winning the spread as the prize from Group 4. The usual services will be held Sun day and the societies and organiza tions during the week. WOMEN’S MASS MEETING Mother’s and Daughter's Week, which has for it spurpose the bring ing together of mothers and daugh ters, and is sponsored by the Y. W. C. A., will be opened with a mass meeting at Pilgrim Baptist Church, 25th and Hamilton streets, next Sun day afternoon at 3:30. All women are urged to attend as matters of import ance will be discussed at this meeting.
